   School Bus Danger Zone
The "Danger Zone" is the area on all sides of the school bus where children are in the most danger of being hit. Children should stay ten feet away from the school bus (or as far as they can) and never go behind it. They should take five giant steps in the front of the school bus before crossing, so they can be seen by the driver.  Click for more information

School Mission

Because of an uncompromising commitment to student learning and achievement, the Mission of A. C. Upcoming Events

From the Principal

Dear Flora Family:
With sincere appreciation for her seven years of service as Assistant Principal, I wish Ms.  Joya Gregg the best as she takes a new path in her career as the Coordinator of Certified Employment Services with the Human Resource Department of Richland School District One.  Her ever-ready smile and effervescent personality will certainly be missed by students, parents and colleagues.   As anyone associated with Flora over recent years knows, Ms. Gregg has been an integral part in moving Flora to the highly achieving school we all now enjoy.

Mr. Vondre Whaley, Flora's Dean of Students for the past two years, now moves to the position of Assistant Principal.  Mr. Whaley, widely known for his long hours overseeing campus events, brings to leadership the student-centered focus that will assure guiding ACF in meeting the myriad needs of our diverse student body.  I congratulate him on this appointment and thank him for the positive impact he continually has on the lives of Flora students.

With any change, we always have new beginnings.  I am privileged to present Mrs. Stephania A. Lenard to the AC Flora community.  Mrs. Lenards multi-dimensional background will help provide continuity to the schools continuing quest for excellence through the achievement of our students.  Her extraordinarily strong instructional background and experience will not only support teachers and classroom instruction, but also will provide depth of knowledge in curriculum and will sustain focus on rigor in the classroom.  Moreover, her administrative skills blend well with the current staff, allowing for a seamless transition.
Immediately, she concentrates on high stakes testing this spring, including organization and implementation of MAP, HSAP, Diagnostics, and EOC.  Further, Mrs. Lenard will lead the accountability team that reviews data and develops data analysis in response to District and State reporting requirements.  Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Lenard to the AC Flora family.

Stephania Autry Lenard, a native of Augusta, Georgia, attended Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where she earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology minoring in Chemistry. After gaining initial licensure, she was employed as the Advanced Placement, Gifted and Talented and College Preparatory Biology teacher by the Dekalb County School System located in Atlanta, Georgia. During her tenure in Atlanta, she served as a teacher fellow at Georgia State University in the Department of Geology studying the Temporal and Spatial Variations of Heavy Metal Concentrations in Developed and Undeveloped Marshes on Skidaway Island.
In the fall of 2004, Mrs. Lenard relocated to Columbia, South Carolina to attend the University of South Carolinas (USC) College of Social Work where she earned a Masters of Social Work concentrating on Individuals, Families and Groups. She notes that the MSW allows good classroom teachers to become great educators by offering candidates more insight into human behavior in social institutions. During her stint at USC, Mrs. Lenard was employed at the historic C.A. Johnson High School as a science teacher.
After earning the MSW in the spring of 2007, Mrs. Lenard sought certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). She earned certification from the NBPTS in the Fall of 2008. Also, during the 2007-2008 school year, Mrs. Lenard was selected by her colleagues to serve as Teacher of the Year.  During the 2009-2010 school year, Mrs. Lenard was promoted to serve in the capacity of C.A. Johnsons Dean of Students.
During the 2012-2013 school year Mrs. Lenard completed an Educational Specialist degree in Administration. Most recently, she served at Olympia Learning Center as Dean of Students from Fall Semester 2010 through Spring Semester 2013.
Mrs. Lenard is the wife of Mr. William Lenard, assistant principal at Airport High School. The Lenards  have one beautiful daughter, Elle. Personally, she enjoys cooking, entertaining and fishing. Most importantly, she is an avid reader. She believes that reading is powerful and quotes Marcus Garvey stating, "The worlds greatest men and women were people who educated themselves outside the university. . . .read and study."
Respectfully submitted,
Richard K. McClure
